Your Reputation Can Cost - Look at Tesla

Most of us have seen something less than kind written about us on social media. And it hurts, especially when it isn’t true.

But true or not, what appears on the net can affect your customers and the value of your business. You only have to look at Tesla’s recent performance.

Sales are reported as in Europe and a drop in California, normally the biggest EV market in the US.

Share prices are tumbling.

Of course, we aren’t running businesses the size of Tesla, but imagine a proportional loss to your business.

Ouch.

Tesla is not the only company where the CEO's behaviour has affected performance.

The health tech firm, Theranos, after it emerged that the tech didn’t work and its founder Elizabeth Holmes was convicted of fraud.

Uber barely survived the leadership of founder Travis Kalanick. So many scandals and allegations of unethical behaviour, regulatory issues and poor workplace reputation nearly took them under until Kalanick finally resigned.

Any suggestion of scandal can wreak havoc on an individual or a company.
