The above quote is a good reminder that different approaches to the same text sometimes lead down a variety of paths. However, I find that sometimes tracing and laying out some of these questions and/or conclusions will allow one to assess their thoughts on a particular discussion.
In regards to the ongoing Philippians 2 discussion that I have been having here on Medium and in discourse with Jeremy Armiger, I do want to revisit some points that may help others understand more about this passage and about my approach towards these issues.
In doing so, I hope to peel back a layer and reveal some of the considerations that I go through when looking at a passage like this and when I am researching a topic so that it is clear what parameters are being used.
One thing that I do want to note is that this discussion has in my mind been beneficial because there have not been too many negative comments towards me regarding some of the suggestions about this particular passage.
I do understand that many people grow up with a particular Bible passage like Philippians 2 or it may be their favorite part of the New Testament, etc. However, I think that it is still…
