Frequency varies dramatically with the type of pooper you are
Every time I ask a person about their bowel habits, I get a funny look. Not “haha” funny as in “toilet humor is hilarious” but more like “why would that matter?!” They will follow up with “I don’t know, I don’t look in the toilet afterwards!”
But why miss out on such vital health information?
Once I explain the importance of bowel habits, people tend to open up about theirs. The output can say a lot about our overall health. When your gut is healthy, stool should be . Too hard or too soft may indicate a problem. But that is not what people generally worry about. Frequency of defecation is usually the main concern. And on that count, the variation is surprisingly dramatic
When it comes to the animal kingdom, each species is as unique as their dung. Sloths go once a week but have to from their tree homes to do so. Elephants go between times a day. While there is no “normal” frequency for humans, given our variability in diet and genetics, understanding your bowel habits offers valuable insights into your health.
