Black, Latino Trump Voters Already Have Buyer’s Remorse
Trump quickly reveals his white nationalist agenda
Comedian Roy Jones Jr. once told a joke about how he didn’t want to do away with the Confederate flag. According to Jones, the Confederate flag told him what part of town the scary white people lived in. Like most jokes, there’s an element of truth in it.
Much like Jones, I’m from a generation that clearly knew what to do with racists. We go in opposite directions. I don’t hang out in places where they frequent. And I definitely don’t vote for them either.
Ignoring Trump’s Racism
Apparently, some People of Color (POC) didn’t get that message because many of them voted for President Donald Trump. Yes, they voted for the president who promised to stage mass deportations, the president who claimed Haitian immigrants were eating cats and dogs and the president who claimed Vice President Kamala Harris wasn’t really Black.
No, I don’t get it either.
However, Trump saw gains among Latino men, some African-American men and Arab Americans. According to the data, about 45% of Latino men, 30% of African American men and 25% of Muslims voted for the now president-elect.
