A Letter to Afrikaner People Who Fled to America Under False Pretenses
You Are Not a Victim
Dear Afrikaner People,
I bear no ill will towards anyone wanting a better life for themselves. I wish you well because relocation is challenging, even within the country’s borders.
However, I have a problem (several), that you cry oppression and persecution to achieve your goals. It is not only legally untrue but morally abhorrent.
Your fictitious lies and perceived persecution MINIMIZE people like me, who, to this day, STRUGGLE with the trauma of REAL violence inflicted upon them. You are spitting in the face of what I and so many others have had to endure from the time we were born.
It was NOT ok to beat me as a child for being in a “whites only” part of town.
It was NOT ok to take away my ancestors’ identity and force me to live in a dry, desolate land where you would not place your animals.
It was NOT ok to deny teenage me access to a place when I needed to use the ladies’ restroom, basing it on the colour of my skin.
It was NOT ok to be told that I, and people like me, are inferior and earn less than you because you grabbed land and jobs reserved for whites so that you can have the upper hand.
