About Me — Khadijah La Musa
A poet. A rebel. A mystic woman; using words as medicine.
I’ve gained quite a bit of new followers and reached my “100 follower” milestone. I figured it was an appropriate time to say hello to all of you and let you get to know me better.
I’m so glad you decided to follow me. So, let’s get into it… shall we?
I am a poet first and foremost. A weaver of words. A literary alchemist.
Khadijah is my first name. It is an Arabic name that can be loosely translated to “born before one’s time.” I love that my mother chose this name for me. She named me not after Queen Latifa’s character in the hit 90’s sitcom, Living Single, but after the first wife of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Khadijah (ﷺ) was a wealthy business woman during a time when women were prohibited from owning property. Khadijah was a boss. Well educated, feminine, beautiful, rich, loyal and faithful — she possessed all the attributes of a virtuous woman. According to Islamic doctrine, Khadijah is said to be “the best among the women of the world of her time.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)
My goal in life is to be a woman of virtue and wealth — not just in the financial sense, but wealthy in a holistic way.
