The Trip ~ Part Two

Thief

As they sipped their tea, a thief entered the grocery store right next to the coffeehouse. When the thief stepped outside, Taha saw him and exclaimed, “Oh no, a thief! Run, guys!” Hearing this, Osman and Rahmi quickly stood up from the red-covered table where they were sitting and rushed to a nearby wall that seemed almost like it was made for them to jump over. Without hesitation, Rahmi jumped first, followed by Taha and Osman. Thankfully, they cleared the wall in one leap. As they jumped, the thief noticed them. Unlike them, he decided to circle around the grocery store to catch them. Somehow, the trio managed to escape quickly, but not together. In their fear, they forgot to stay together and got separated.

Osman realized they had split up only when he glanced back. His brain was working like a genius, simultaneously thinking about how to escape, why they had split up, and also telling himself, “I don’t know this place, but I have no choice. I need to find a place to hide or a house to take shelter in.” After passing through a few gravelly side streets, he emerged onto the main road — the asphalt. About fifty steps ahead, he saw a gray-painted house. He was still running. He headed towards it, but just as he noticed the house, he also spotted a little girl entering it. Before going inside, the girl saw Osman’s sweaty and frightened appearance and recoiled a bit, clearly…
