I Visited Paphos Lighthouse

New photos from different angles

Last week, I set off for Paphos despite a weather warning for rain showers. I am glad the report did not deter me as the dry, cloudy moments lasted long enough to capture Paphos lighthouse.

The striking lighthouse is located in Paphos Archaeological Park (near the harbour), which also covers a range of Hellenistic-Roman ruins. I focused on the lighthouse, however, before the rain would come. Thankfully, the cloud cover enabled me to shoot from different angles.

The lighthouse was built in 1888 under British rule to guide ships to the safety of Paphos harbour. The 20m high tower has a single gallery and a lantern that flashes every fifteen seconds, overlooking the Faros Beach.

Behind the lighthouse is a restored Roman theatre with 1200 seats, dating from the end of the second century AD. Cultural events are still hosted today in this amazing location.
