Abortion is Constitutional — And Why Roe Should Return
I can’t believe we still have to talk about this — but here we go —
Here are the top reasons why Roe needs to make a comeback:
Abortion bans are unconstitutional sex discrimination. The male sex is never forced to risk his life, or donate tissue or blood, to preserve the life of another person. Instead, men retain the right to body autonomy in all cases of reproduction, and women don’t. This double standard makes abortion bans unconstitutional sex discrimination under the 14th amendment’s Equal Protection Clause — which promises equal protection under the law.
Abortion bans also force women to risk their lives to give birth, thereby violating a woman’s God-given and constitutional right to life — and the basic human right to live. Further, any person’s civil right to life is not “trumped” by anyone else’s right to live — excuse the pun, and its unintentional, though relevant. If you have a blood type that matches that of a dying person who needs blood, no one has the right to take it from you to save that person.
Pregnancy is actually the only instance in which forced blood and bodily tissue donation is considered socially acceptable — because it is a tool of societal control. We all somehow agree that forced donation of bodily tissue and fluids is immoral — so based on this…
