Cookies for Dinner?
Adulthood lied.
I Thought Being an Adult Would Be Awesome
When I was about 8 years old, I was angry because my mom wouldn’t let me eat cookies for dinner. I folded my arms and said, “When I grow up, I’ll eat cookies all day, and no one can stop me.”
Now I’m an adult. I can eat cookies for dinner. But I also have to worry about my health, my money, and my diet.
Being an adult isn’t as fun as I thought. Not even close.
Freedom? More Like Responsibility
When I was a kid, I thought adults could do anything they wanted. Sleep late, stay up all night, buy anything, go anywhere.
Now I know: being an adult means doing things you have to do even when you don’t want to. Like waking up early for work, paying bills, cleaning your house, making phone calls you hate.
You think you’re free, but really, you’re just busy. All. The. Time.
Money Is Not Magic
As a kid, I thought adults always had money. They could buy toys, snacks, cars — whatever they wanted.
Now I know: money disappears fast. You get your paycheck, and then boom — rent, electricity, gas, food, and more. And suddenly… you’re broke again.
