Get Uncomfortable If You Want to Be More Assertive
We all encounter times when we wish we would’ve stood up for ourselves.
For some reason, we bit our tongues, and things didn’t turn out well.
This could be in some major way or with something inconsequential.
A man meets a woman he is attracted to. She is smart and funny, two traits he regards very highly.
They happen to work together. A friendship is quickly formed, and they enjoy each other’s company.
The man has had difficulty speaking to women where romance is concerned. Talking to her about work is easy for him. On the other hand, he freezes whenever he builds up the courage to ask her out on a date to take the relationship to a romantic level. He’s scared of seeming overly aggressive, and he doesn’t want to hurt her feelings in any way.
This man continues to have a positive relationship with this woman at work. They sometimes talk on the phone, but it’s always regarding their work. He tells himself that the perfect opportunity will appear soon, and he can tell her how he feels.
The situation goes on like this. One day she tells him she has some great news. He’s happy to celebrate anything positive with her. The unfortunate reality is that her good news is bad news for him.
