How to Deal with No Motivation

Something I’ve never struggled with is motivation. Maybe it’s because I love everything I do, or maybe it’s because I have a bulletproof disciplined mind. It’s the latter. I can confirm I don’t love everything I do. But how did I become so disciplined? There are two answers to this question.

Answer 1: Do Something You Love Consistently

The first method is to do something you love for a consistent period. This should be something you’re passionate about, so much that you don’t need motivation. For me, that’s the gym. I’ve gone to the gym consistently every day for the past three years, except when I was sick.

Throughout these years of loving the gym and consistently going, I’ve developed the discipline to go even when I don’t feel like it. This discipline then applies to other areas of my life.

To develop discipline:

  1. Choose something you love: It can be anything, as long as you’re passionate about it.
  2. Practice it daily: Make it a daily habit.
  3. Develop discipline: Over time, the discipline you build from this habit will spill over into other areas of your life.
