I haven't been writing for some days now, as I've been focused on gathering resources to get my monthly supplies. I’ve had some great titles and ideas drafted, but I just couldn’t bring myself to write.

This morning, I woke up with a list of chores: refill my cooking gas, buy food supplies, cook, clean the house, take a nap, and finally, write.

By 6:30 a.m., I was already off to the gas depot with my cylinder and a shopping bag. I wanted to walk down—it’s about a 30-minute walk—and I knew the depot would be open by the time I arrived. After refilling the gas, I stopped by the open market to get my monthly supplies. I love early morning shopping; everything feels fresh, and the market glows with the smiles of sellers and the colors of fresh produce.

Back home, I started cooking my birthday meal—Edikang Ikong, a vegetable soup made from pumpkin and water leaves, served with garri. The pumpkin leaves I used was actually from my garden—the first sprouts of the year and the water leaves came from the ones I planted along the pavement around my home.
