My dreams have already come true

Today I looked at my children
and their precious faces,
and suddenly I saw
the physical manifestation
of all my life’s work up to this moment,
and just how far I've come,
when I've felt I haven't done enough to reach my dreams.

I’ve hurt myself with my own thoughts
more than anyone else’s words ever have.
And now all at once, I feel like the adult that I am,
the person I’ll be for my children.
