I Absolutely Boycott Israel
And Starbucks is Still Terrible Coffee.
. A scary number for a bill being called the “Anti-Boycott Act,” was rescinded from Monday’s vote (at the time of this writing), some say to due to social presser. But it will be back, and we need to talk about it.
It was worded to punish anyone who participates in Boycotts, or Divests or Sanctions from anything which would affect the Israeli government or economy. And it has the International and non-government organization (also called an “IGO”) of the same name: in mind.
It was written by New York Representative, , a youthful Zionist in Congress who thought he’d make a little name for himself.
The bill’s text alleges to expand on a law that already exists which claims to “to oppose restrictive trade practices or boycotts fostered or imposed by any foreign country against other countries,” but Mr. Lawler’s bill would name-names and apply it domestically to smaller entities as well as apply hefty financial fines. It takes an international system of trade and fostering relations between nation-states and creates a manipulative system which would help Israelis more than Americans.
So much for “America First,” eh Rep?
