Former NFL star Steve Smith sued for alleged affair under ‘homewrecker law’

According to a report by , former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. is being sued by a man who alleges that he had an affair with his wife, who is a former member of the Baltimore Ravens’ marching band.
The woman’s husband, Antonio Martinez, is seeking over $100,000 from the Panthers legend filed on Tuesday in Mecklenburg County Superior Court.
The lawsuit also alleges intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress, punitive damages, and attorney’s fees.
It’s filed under North Carolina’s “alienation of affection” law, also known as a which allows a spouse to sue a third party for interfering with and destroying the love and affection of a marriage.
Martinez, who lives in Charlotte and found and posted a series of messages on Twitter several months ago, alleging an affair between Smith and his wife, Nicole.
