The New Year came and went along without much fanfare, at least in the heart of Harper Downman. Losing himself in his work, and continuing to ignore the phone calls from his wife, Happy was growing more and more enamored with Delphine as the months passed. Candlelight dinners followed by walks in the park and stimulating conversation only served to boost the man’s confidence and position in life. More than the rush of passionate sex, which still hadn’t taken place, it was the chemistry and connection that he enjoyed the most. There was always that thing about her that kept him up at night; that same thing that made him smile in the morning. As the year moved along, the hype and revelry of Mardi Gras was now looming. Another decadent season of drinks, debauchery and frivolity would now be upon them. What made this year more special and hectic was the fact that Mardi Gras and Valentine’s Day were happening in the same week. With Candy seemingly far removed from his mind, the urge to finally taste Delphine was growing stronger.
