HEALTHCARE ARTICLE WRITING
How to Write the Best Healthcare Articles?
A comprehensive guide to better writing and editing
During my medical editor internship, I’ve identified top writers and refused to edit anything that would need to be rewritten. I’ve seen it all, from emotionally numb articles about mental health to gorgeous, easy-to-read news on emerging technologies.
After 9 months, I wrote a guide that would help both writers and editors to create better stories for the public. I want everyone to communicate science, medicine and research in plain English without unnecessary jargon. I want us, the communicators, to create an atmosphere that most people can understand healthcare-related topics and therefore make better informed decisions about their own health.
Here’s the adapted guide to help you write and edit better medical and healthcare articles:
1. Write with the audience in mind
Remember that scientific/medical communication is not only about ‘throwing information’ at your audience.
good communication = adjusting your style to the audience (ie. the general public) + making your writing interesting enough…
