Chapter Four: The Lesson
In the middle of the morning, the soldiers led her into a room that was lit by candles. The walls were lined with books. In the middle, facing the Alpha, was a lone chair.
As she walked in, Kael didn’t give her a glance.
“Take a seat.”
She refused to back down.
“Sit,” I said.
His voice cracked something in the air, but it wasn’t loud. Gravity leaned slightly in his direction. Sufficient to remind her that he was more than a man.
She took a seat.
After shutting a book, Kael turned to face her. “You’re not sure who you are, are you?”
“I am aware of what I am not. Yours.
His eyes sparkled with delight as his jaw tightened. However, the bond was taken. The mark showed up. Thus, you were chosen by the blood.
Panic rose, but she swallowed it. “The blood is incorrect then.”
