Is War the Answer to Terrorism?
A Letter to Humanity, from an Indian
The people have not overcome the trauma of the Pahalgam attack on the beautiful land of Kashmir, even after 16 days. We are still in mourning for the victims.
Panick, panick, everywhere. Be it India or Pakistan.
News and social media are reporting numerous mock drills being carried out amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
The human in me says, “History is the witness that war has never been the right answer.”
The loyal citizen in me says, “How can we ignore the wrongdoings of the terrorists! We must retaliate.”
How long must common people continue to pay the price for the barbaric, ruthless, and inhuman actions of a few?
Haven’t we learnt enough from the Russia-Ukraine war?
Can we not think beyond the boundaries of religion, language, politics, and geography?
Pablo Neruda’s poetic lines express what I have in my heart now:
For once on the face of the Earth,
Let’s not speak in any language.
Let’s stop for one second
and not move our arms so much.
🌏We must empathize with one another, recognizing humanity as our most meaningful bond.
💐Let’s not be judgmental based on religion.
❣️Let’s prioritize PEACE.
🙏🏻It’s my sincere prayer to the Almighty to lead us from the darkness of war and terrorism to the Light of Peace and Happiness.
Amen!
