5 Reasons Why I’m Giving Medium Another Go

First off, I promise you this won’t be just another article complaining about Medium only being a clickbait platform for other Medium writers!

What I want to share is actually a brief but important account of a journey I think many new Medium writers seem to go through when, with trepidation, we start to post those first, nerve-wracking articles out into this frankly very overwhelming sea of noise.

And it’s also an explanation as to why I truly believe Medium is a fantastic opportunity for writers, and how it can be made to work authentically for you.

I arrived on Medium in January 2022 on a recommendation — to read a friend’s favourite journalist and because I’d been told, ‘I could make money as a writer’.

I’ve been a poet for my own pleasure for well over a decade now, completed a Masters in Creative Writing, had a few poems published, and then I laid down my pen and disappeared from the ‘scene’ altogether for 7 years to plunge all my creativity into a family business.
