Cattails are not bullrushes,
Nor are nightingales
House finches,
Nor are you a hurricane,
Nor am I a coastal plain,
And yet, here we are,
Swamped in the wreckage.
But love is not an ending,
Nor are nightingales
Harbingers.
I don’t care a whit to wit
What coasts are to
Hurricanes, or metaphors,
I love you, again.
