Why I Sometimes Forget How To Write

It sounds silly but it’s true — sometimes I forget how to write!

What do I mean by ‘I forget how to write’?

It’s simple — one (or more) of three things happen:

  • I can’t seem to put any words on the page — my mind is a complete blank.
  • I start to write my article, but after writing the first part I am not happy with how the article is taking shape and I delete everything and start over.
  • I write my article, but by the time I get to the conclusion I realise how weak and disjointed the article is — which I need to decide do I publish anyway or change the article entirely.

I am writing this article because I have experienced these three ‘I have forgotten how to write’ sensations in the last week or so.

But why does this happen?

Why do I sometimes forget how to write?

I write whatever comes to mind. Usually, it relates to self-improvement, philosophy, health and fitness, or writing itself. I do it for the love of it.
