Ways to Put God First Without Neglecting Your Responsibilities

Putting God first doesn’t mean you have to neglect your duties.

He even guides and strengthens you in them.

See a diligent man, he shall stand before kings and not mean men.

My Take

There are several cases where serving God has helped me even in my career.

What is key is that you understand how to balance God and life.

The turning point scripture

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and He shall direct your paths —

Right from my teenage days, this scripture remained a puzzle to me.

It’s not until recently that I discovered the meaning.

I used to question God.

I usually ask, “Why do I have to discard my knowledge of a subject? Does that mean that my understanding doesn’t amount to anything?”

From my constant study of the scriptures, the scripture became clearer.

God is simply stating that I need total dependence on him as opposed to my knowledge which can be unreliable.

So I began to involve God even in the tiniest of my activities.

The results were always exceptional when I involved God.

God’s Direction Vs My Knowledge

I recall my university days when I studied earnestly for an exam. I was done reading and was getting ready to write the exam when God brought to my attention that I was missing out on a particular topic.

The voice, is clear and firm on that topic being a compulsory question.

I didn’t hesitate to go back and read that topic.

At the exam, that topic made it the number one mandatory question.

While my course-mates were stunned and ill-prepared, I wrote my exam with confidence.

The Takeaway

Involving God in all your activities helps you to succeed better than relegating him to the background.
