Iused to be terrified of saying “I don’t know.” In school, at work, and even in casual conversations, the phrase felt like an admission of defeat, a crack in my carefully constructed facade of knowledge and competence. “I don’t know” meant appearing uninformed, unprepared, maybe even a little slow. So, I developed a bad habit of bluffing my way through, offering flimsy guesses or deflecting questions with nervous laughter. Looking back, it was exhausting.

But then, something unexpected happened. Life, with its inherent unpredictability, threw me a curveball. A career change forced me to navigate a completely new field. Suddenly, the things I thought I knew became irrelevant. The initial panic was overwhelming, but somewhere amidst the confusion, a realization dawned — it was okay to not know everything. In fact, embracing uncertainty, and the liberating power of “I don’t know,” became the key to unlocking growth and new possibilities.
