The Moment of Truth

I held the blood test results in my trembling hands, staring at the bold numbers that exceeded normal limits:

Triglyceride: 8.410 mmol/L (Ref: <1.81)

Cholesterol: 7.45 mmol/L (Ref: 3.37–5.18)

These numbers meant nothing to me at first. That day, I visited the hospital because of persistent fatigue and severe neck pain. I was constantly battling headaches and fighting the urge to sleep.

The gravity of the situation didn’t hit me until I walked into Dr. Dai’s office, a doctor I deeply trusted. He studied my results, then looked at me with concern. A few seconds of silence passed — perhaps he was carefully choosing his words. He sighed and decided to be brutally honest, for which I’m still grateful. His frankness made me take the situation seriously.
