Sometimes the truth can be uncomfortable. We may not want to know about it or hear it, but it won’t change the fact, that it is there. Starting with and Irish (proud Irish speaking) actress Saoirse Ronan appearing in BBC The Graham Norton Show. When a conversation around being taught how to use the butt of a cell phone as a weapon for a role in The Day of the Jackal (Radmayne) made Mescal question “who would actually bother with this strategy?”. This is something we could all wonder about, right? But then Ronan answered “That’s what girls have to think about all the time. Am I right ladies?”.

And to the shock of men discussing it, and men in the audience — the applause was telling.

It is an uncomfortable truth that many don’t want to talk about. I see it in my everyday life, in the comments under my posts, in what my male friends sometimes say (or even my own brother!).

“People are not afraid for their lives anymore.” — Some dude from Trust Me Bro University quoted by my brother.
