Juggling Medical School and Medium

The Clear Path, the Dream or Delusion

Dreams do not always come true.

I always wanted to do something along the creative as an occupation. Then reality hit and I was thrust into the medical field without any significant interest. Lots of time has passed, and lots more remain as I weigh on whether I made the right decision.

I have started to love studying medicine and see myself having a fruitful career as a doctor. Yet I hate to admit it’s killing my writing time, memoizing countless diseases and body parts certainly doesn’t give me enough time to read literature or write. Two things that fuel my creativity.

But as they say, there is always time for everything you just have to prioritise. And right now med school encompasses my everyday life. On the other hand, my writing career is predominantly imagination and I still have nothing significant to show.

Should I follow my childhood dream or this new path I stumbled upon?

What do you think? Should I give up yet?

I feel like making the choice is pointless and I will try and put 100% in both routes, Life is too short to only go one way. I’ll go as the wind takes me, hopefully, it will blow me both ways. I hope they interconnect like a roundabout. That is my delusion.
