I took a minute to just lie down in my bed this last Friday evening to unwind after my day shift, but my mind kept racing.

I started thinking of all the ways I could use the extra time over the weekend to catch up on chores, do a bit of reading, or start a new course, and so on.

Now, this might seem pretty normal to you, but imagine if this was the only way you’d ever known your weekends to be, and the thought of having 48 hours without work—real or made-up—makes you feel inadequate and worthless.

It seems like everyone is expected to be an entrepreneur or solopreneur, have multiple passive income streams, a stock portfolio, a side hustle, bake their own bread from scratch, and grow vegetables in their backyard.

Phew!

You would think that working a demanding 9–5 (which is more like a 9–9) would be enough for a day’s work, but my self-worth was so closely tied to being productive around the clock that I enrolled in online courses just to fill up my time left after my corporate job.

And not just any online courses—full-fledged postgraduate programs, of which I have completed three in the past six years.
