The ‘a-hah’ moment
As I was praying my regular daily prayers of protection and health over my family, I prayed at the end for help in forgiving those who have hurt me. The usual 4 or 5 suspects came to mind — old friends or family members who have caused a lot of pain and hurt over the years.
And then I wondered if I’d ever be able to truly forgive them, let go of those old hurts, and move on — I’d been ‘stuck’ on them for ages — when it occurred to me that I didn’t need to keep on forgiving what I’d already chosen to forgive. It’s been done. Finished.
Just as Jesus’ work on the cross was done once to cover us for all time. I choose forgiveness. Completely. For yesterday, for today, and for always.
What I needed to do was to cover the old hurts and those who caused them with LOVE.
