I Fell Off My Wagon

I began my weight loss journey in May 2024, riding my wagon with confidence, all the way until February 2025. I haven’t even been close to a fall — until this weekend.

This weekend, I fell off my wagon. My backside hit the dusty, stony road and stayed there all day. I indulged in more than a few treats: four small chocolates, one chocolate ice cream bar, a piece of sourdough toast slathered with butter and Marmite (a U.K. and New Zealand spread you might find, well, questionable), and three slices of not-so-low-carb pizza.

What Happened?

It all started the night before with a few glasses of wine — a treat I sometimes enjoyed on a Friday or Saturday night without consequence. This time there were consequences!

The only thing that’s changed in the past few weeks between a few glasses of wine having little effect, to this time when they had significant effect, has been extended fasting.

If you’ve been following my Keto Path, you’ll know that I’ve dropped down to one-meal-a-day (OMAD). I’ve also done a couple of longer fasts, one for 40-hours.
