How to Enjoy Being Alone Without Feeling Lonely
A simple guide to feeling good on your own.
It’s safe to say that most people — myself included — fear being alone. But why is that?
Spending time alone can seem uncomfortable because we may need to face inner demons by having to hear our deepest thoughts.
I used to believe that to cure loneliness, I needed to surround myself with many people.

Alone vs. Lonely
Alone and lonely — these two similar-sounding words can have vastly different meanings.
Loneliness is that empty feeling you get when you wish someone were there to talk to or share a moment with.
On the other hand, solitude is when you’re content with being alone when you enjoy your own company. You can relax, reflect, and recharge.
Choosing to be by yourself, without needing to fill a void with others, can feel like a weight has been lifted out of your shoulders.
