In today’s world, writing is a popular profession for many people, especially for those who dream of making money sitting at home. But, as they say, life is not a fairy tale. There are some writing mistakes that can actually jeopardize your career, but fortunately, it is never too late to learn. Below are some of the common blunders and guides on how to write effectively on Medium and on any blogging platform.

1. Not Formatting Properly

Long paragraphs of text have the effect of boring the reader, which is not helpful when you are trying to convey a message. It is recommended to divide large paragraphs into more concise ones to make them easier to read. Proper formatting increases readability and the likelihood of viewers’ interest.

2. Falling into the Comparison Trap

You can easily find yourself struggling for attempts at emulation of other writers, especially in different forms of writing such as poetry. Yet they turn out to be destructive because they change your voice and way of working. Rather than concentrating on other people’s work, make sure to read and expand your knowledge in an effort to improve the quality of your own work. Let reading be a sign of growth, not a reason for worry.

3. Procrastination

Writing as a job is one of the best ways to avoid putting off writing because it assigns the activity a specific time for completion. Many writers target having a ‘pot of gold’ at the end of the rainbow, but you must aim to produce quality and consistency. Make the best of the time you have and wait for the right moment. Just try to do your best and consistently create great work while improving your reputation.

4. Resistance to Change

It is always good to be stable, but writing sometimes requires change and/or versatility. It may be hard for some writers to accept change in their craft, but it is important to embrace change. Ideas evolve; remember that it is okay to modify your strategies in order to keep your practices exciting.

Turning Mistakes into Learning Opportunities

Talking about the mistakes we have made should not be taken as a negative experience but as a positive road to progress. Any mistake you make in your writing process is a lesson to learn. In order to establish a regular web writing career, you need to remain focused, write frequently, look for other outlets, learn to develop better plots, and accept the fact that you may have to rewrite at times.

Finally, your mistakes are your strengths, and they lead to long-term development and success. The key is to always continue to grow as a person and as a writer and find out how to do it with every next step.
