I recently came across a quote, “Strange isn't it? You know yourself best, yet you crumble at the words of someone who hasn’t lived a second of your life. Focus on your own voice — it is the only one that matters”.
For years, I gave unnecessary weight to other’s opinion —letting rude word of someone upset me, doubting myself at the little criticism, and feeling unimportant whenever I was ignored.
It felt as if I had handed over the remote control of my emotions, allowing others to switch my mood on and off at their convenience. Every compliment felt like validation, while every criticism cut deep like a wound.
I became a pathological people -pleaser chasing their approval just to hear good things about me.
But no matter how much I tried, I could never control what people thought. People will always have something to say, sometime good sometime bad or often unnecessary.
