A Society Caged by a Disease Called Conformity
We must all think alike to survive or the big boss(es) will ostracize us

Look like them, dress up like them,
Sound like them, think like them,
Be like them, live like them…
Sounds like a nursery rhyme to me, short and simple. Maybe that’s why it is so easily fed into the brains of tiny humans. We humans grow up carrying this rhyme encoded into our neurons. It stems from a long line of ancestors who hunted and gathered together.
The message my brain has registered goes something like this — keep looking up to them and mutate yourself, like a virus does. Keep molding yourself, as per their demands.
As if my personality is made of clay and it needs to be endlessly chiseled to create the perfect piece — a piece they would approve of.
A virus can mutate really fast, to adapt itself in the ever-changing surroundings. This is how conformity feels like.
If I sincerely begin to walk in their footsteps and follow their direction, what would be left of me, the original me?
