5 Quick Tips for Reducing Anxiety

--

“You don’t have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you.” — Dan Millman

Anxiety’s been my unwanted BFF lately. Ugh. 😑

Anyone else feeling it? I swear, sometimes it feels like my brain’s on a hamster wheel that just won’t stop…

I’ve been trying out some stuff that’s actually helping, and I thought I’d share.

Maybe it’ll help you too?

I’m no expert (seriously, my life’s a beautiful mess), but I’ve picked up a few tricks that sometimes help me tell anxiety to take a hike.

Fair warning: they’re not magical cures, just some stuff that’s worked for me when things get rough.

So, here we go — my top 5 “Hey anxiety, take a chill pill” strategies:

  1. Breathe Like You Mean It

Okay, I know what you’re thinking — “Duh, I’m already breathing!”

But stick with me here. I was in full-on panic mode about a work thing, and my friend Emmy was like, “Dude, just breathe.” I rolled my eyes so hard.

I nearly saw my brain, but then she showed me this 4–4–4 trick.

  • Breathe in for 4 seconds
  • Hold for 4 seconds
  • Out for 4 seconds
