The Irony of Forgiveness: Is this an attribute of the Strong?
Does the stronger forgive, or does the other have no choice but to do so?
Forgiveness is an act, which supports a very famous phrase “an eye for an eye make the world blind”. According to this phrase, there is someone who submits his rights, honour, or something which is tangible or intangible, to justify the phrase.
Forgiveness is an action or emotion that ignores the act of other or self, that may lead to punishment.
Precursor
Forgiveness is just an end, which has a precursor in the form of crime or injustice. The degree of crime or injustice decides the visibility of forgiveness.
Law has a very limited or no access to forgiveness. But, the norms, values, ethics, morality etc. make space for the forgiveness.
Stakeholders
To this whole event, till the forgiveness, there are three stakeholders.
- (First person) The person who committed the crime or the one who demands forgiveness.
- (Second person) Against whom the crime is committed, or the holder of forgiveness.
