How to actually have a positive mindset
Before we discuss the main topic, let me ask you this question
Do good habits lead to success?
Atomic Habits, a book by James Clear, Suggests otherwise.
In the second chapter — “How Your Habits Shape Your Identity,” James CLEARly gives an example — did you see what I did there? :)
If you have read it, you will know what I am talking about, it goes like…
Imagine 2 people resisting a cigarette and one of them says “ I am not a smoker” while the other one says “no thanks, I am trying to quit”
This small difference says a lot about what person thinks about themselves.
Many motivational speakers would have said, “Think positive, love yourself” — They ‘subtly’ ask you to brainwash yourself by repeating, “You are the best, you are beautiful, I am on top, etc. Basically Affirmations
Your brain knows who you are, how stupid you are, and how many mess-ups you make. So it (Affirmations) does get you in a good mood in the morning, until the first reality check, ‘when you mess up or your last mess get resurfaces ’
You Are Simply Treating the Symptom, Not the Cause
The cause is that your habits or actions have an identity-
- If you smoke, you are a smoker.
- If you write, you are a writer.
- If you speak on big stages, well, you are delusional. (jk)
How do you treat the cause?
By perfecting the Self Image, because that is what is behind all the negative talk. what your brain talks and communicates to you, a lot of times, a real feedback from the experiences. When you mess up and somebody tells you something the brain exactly repeats that!
What is Self-image?
According to Google, The idea one has of one’s abilities, appearance, and personality.
Your mind is not a ‘yes, man’ it won’t lie to you for making you feel good!-
- If you have failed at something, “you have failed.”
- Not able to achieve something, “you didn’t achieve.”
It will mock you and let’s be honest, you are in some sort!
When you change your habits, your self-image transforms. You may experience setbacks and negative self-talk, but by consistently following steps toward your goal, your brain will eventually abandon these patterns.”
My brain to me right now —
“add an unpopular opinion to keep the article interesting”
Unpopular Opinion:
Your hobbies are not supposed to be turned into passion, they are supposed to keep you sane, after your hard day at work! After monetizing your hobbies, what do you think you are gonna do after a hard day at work?
Scroll Instagram reels?
Logic Behind choosing a passion:
“Ai is getting better and better, and you will have to work hard to be the top 1%, to be irreplaceable than the competition, if you don’t have passion, someone with passion will outwork you”
Yeah okay but is “Life” to you just work?
- Is life just about working as hard as possible?
- As efficiently as possible?
- Driven by the fear of being replaced?
Take a moment to ask yourself what you’re getting into and what you think about life.
No conclusion for this article — do you agree? disagree? Let me know what you think!
