Hope, Like Flowers

In Japan, there’s a unique art of repairing broken things called Kintsugi. They use gold powder to mend broken bowls, making them new and even more valuable in the process. There’s hope, then, even for a broken bowl.

But when I apply that to myself, I wonder — do I really want to become a whole new person after hard times? Not really. I just want to be the best version of myself — not something reimagined or replaced.

I realized something when I saw the flowers in my garden. Sometimes, after harsh weather, they begin look sad and withered. But then, I sprinkle them with water, add a little plant food, and they perk up again — ready to bloom. Sometimes I get it wrong: too much water, not enough sun, even insect attacks. And still, they rise. Petals trembling, leaves unsure, but they grow toward the light anyway.

Maybe healing isn’t about turning gold at the cracks. Maybe it’s about time, space, and just enough love to keep going.
Like the flowers, I don’t need to be fixed. I need to be seen and nurtured.

Reminded that I’m still here and still growing. There’s hope in that. And that is enough.
