A Magical Life in McLeod Ganj, India
The place the Dalai Lama calls home in Dharamshala
This is my take on Mitch’s🌬️photo challenge. His idea was to share photos that might intrigue, while providing the photo’s back story.
McLeod Ganj
The shots were taken in 2012 in McLeod Ganj, the upper area of Dharamshala. It is located in Northern India in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
It’s a magical place! When first visiting, I fell so in love that I remained for a month. The following year, I returned and stayed three times longer.
When revisiting restaurateurs and shopkeepers the second year, Maddy, a pleasant chap whose restaurant I often frequented, aptly remarked, “Oh, once a person comes to Mcleod, they always come back.”
Indeed, they do; I met many who had been to McLeod numerous times. Others had moved there from Europe, Australia, or the United States. Some still lived in their home country part of the year and in McLeod for the remainder.
