Ex-NFL player Kevin Ware Jr. sentenced to 30 years for murdering girlfriend
He was already serving 15 years for another crime.
A former NFL player has admitted to killing his girlfriend, whose remains were found months after her family reported her missing when they didn’t hear from her on her father's birthday.
According to court documents out of Harris County, , , 44, will serve 30 years in prison for the grisly murder of Taylor Pomaski, 29.
Ware was scheduled to stand trial beginning Friday, but prosecutors during a pre-trial hearing. He had faced up to life without parole if convicted at trial.
Police said by stabbing her, striking her with a blunt object, and strangling her. He then burned her body and left it in a ditch in the north Houston suburb of Spring, according to investigators.
Ware has already been behind bars for nearly four years. He was arrested on gun and drug charges days before Pomaski’s disappearance, but he was released on bail.
