I can’t image a more perfect experience to witness Olympic athletes
My godson and his husband are in Paris and soon will head to their next post with the Foreign Service. Before they left Paris, I wanted to visit. What luck that my trip coincided with the Paralympic games.
I dreamed of attending an Olympic event but never figured the opportunity would coincide with my travels. Then, it happened.
It was an unforgettable evening. There were two back-to-back blind quarter-final games held in the Eiffel Stadium, including the hometown team and another the all-time winners of Paralympic blind football since its inception in 2004.
Attending the Olympics was not a dream because I’m an avid sports fan. Rather, I wanted to experience the multicultural event and witness how sports can bring differing politically oriented countries together for a common purpose centered around the values of excellence, respect and friendship.
Other than when I was in high school and watched football with the family — we were all devoted Broncos fans — I have never been drawn to sports and watched only when I was with others. I attended the US Open with my former husband for several…
