Turtle’s Self-Consciousness
Turtle was sitting in silence, as he had done so in the recent past, at meetings with the hares of Tiny Tales village. (It “takes a village” to run this community) Every time there was a village activity, the hares dominated the conversation and dictated the speed in which to accomplish tasks.
Turtle was noted by others to roll his eyes in frustration because he wasn’t able to “keep up” with his tasks for the task or project he was assigned. Oftentimes a hare brusquely pushed him aside and took over the project, whether it was tidying up the meeting room or making food for the members of the community. He often felt diminished in his accomplishments and his self-confidence plummeted with each dismissive action by the hares.
As his confidence sank, his willingness and motivation to attend meetings suffered. He was feeling disrespected when he couldn’t or wouldn’t go as fast as the hares were dictating he should.
His personality was infectious and his choix de vie humble for the benefit of the greater good. He was missed when he was late or “forgot” a meeting. But on some occasions, he felt he was letting down the members despite how he felt about himself.
