Comparing Trump’s America to Germany Under the Nazis

How bad can it get?

I don’t particularly enjoy going to rallies and holding up signs, but I do it to help move public sentiment and encourage action. The sign I take with me shows Captain America punching a dictator who flies through the air from the impact.

The sign says, “Fighting Nazis is an American Tradition.” In the original graphic it’s Adolf Hitler getting hit, but I changed the face to Trump’s.

I don’t mean to downplay the singular horror of the Holocaust. Trump is not Hitler, but he’s surely following the playbook of Hitler and other fascist or “strongman” dictators.

Invading independent nations

Like Hitler, Trump believes that other countries belong to him. Regarding Greenland, he says, “We need it really for international world security. And I think we’re going to get it. One way or another, we’re going to get it.” Twice he’s insisted that he isn’t joking when he says Canada needs to be part of the U.S. He’s asked the military to draw up plans for retaking the Panama Canal.

Dehumanizing opponents and racial groups
