Some People Are in Your Life Only for a Season
But that doesn’t make their contribution less valuable
In life, when something is good, generally speaking we want it to last. We use phrases like ‘best friend forever’ and ‘love of my life’ as an example of this tendency.
When we’re enjoying being around someone, we don’t like to think about things ending. But sometimes, we simply grow apart. Other relationships are just transient by nature, due to the circumstances involved.
For instance, I made some wonderful friends while hospitalised. Even though I haven’t seen them since, the connections I made with those beautiful, creative people still shine brightly in my mind. The fact that our time together was limited doesn’t change that.
It’s easy to feel sad when things evolve, but mainly I feel grateful that I experienced those connections at all. Something doesn’t have to last forever to be significant.
Some people are so special, they leave their mark, no matter how long you knew them.
