Black Friday Alternatives

Arrange a craft swap.

Wall art for a crocheted hat? Yes, please.

Shop with local artists.

Local farmer’s market or craft shows are good options to find them.

If you shop Etsy, do your due diligence to find the actual small artist sellers and not the large commercial accounts. Also, check out Black, Indigenous, and other global majority sellers.

Plan an outdoor activity.

Go on a hike or simply sit in a local park watching the clouds if that’s more your speed.

Make a donation plan.

Don’t donate just for the holidays. Make a year-long plan.

Organize.

Instead of dealing with crowds, deal with that crowded closet. Consider donating unused winter gear and toys.

Create a garden plan or local food sourcing plan.

Learn to garden or find a community garden.
