Plans to End Legitimate Sex Work in the UK

This proposal is working its way through parliament right now and most people know nothing about it.

We’re not Girls!

Amendments were added at the last minute to the Crime and Policing Bill 2025, which is in the committee stage and may become law in mid-May — yes, just weeks away.

*** note: different laws apply in Scotland and Northern Ireland *** so this is actually about England and Wales. ***

In-person sex work is currently legal, and more than 1 million people in the UK engage in it each year as service providers or clients.

There has been no public consultation.

No one knows this is on the agenda.

In this post, I am just going to summarise what is proposed in these amendments.

At all times, I want you to remember sex work is legal here. Some of us have run legitimate businesses for about 30–40 years or more providing sexual services, and often, we see the same clients for decades. We’ve built our working careers around this and invested heavily in building up a great, professional business.
