It’s easy to get lost in new scientific terminologies and acronyms mentioned commonly in anti-aging science, but it’s important to learn these to fully appreciate the latest developments in this exciting field of study.

Let’s be clear about these terms:

  • (1) NAD+ is a chemical compound that stands for Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. It is a coenzyme that plays an important part in oxidation-reduction (“redox”) reactions. NAD+ is essential in energy metabolism in the body. Metabolism is simply the process the body uses to create energy from the nutrients you consume. Our body cells need this energy to grow and maintain wellness. In fact, our cells have access to multiple pathways to produce energy.
  • (2) NADH stands for Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide + hydrogen. It is a naturally occurring compound in the body and is also important for generating energy.
  • (3) NMN, or Nicotinamide
