An Extended Timeout
It might be temporary, it might not
As some of you have likely noticed, I haven’t been very active on Medium lately. In light of this week’s horrible news, I have decided to keep it that way. To protect my sanity, I need to limit my information intake. This is all but impossible on Medium.
My husband says, “It’ll be OK. We survived the last time, we’ll get through it this time.”
I’m not so sure. The fact that our society has degraded to a level where unapologetic hate, corruption, self-servitude, bullying, lying, cheating, stealing, and criminal convictions are not only acceptable to the majority of the population but are admired and rewarded with the ultimate position of power. Or at the very least, are overlooked in favor of some perceived boon to an already stable economy– a miracle considering we just came out of a global pandemic.
Convicted felons can’t vote because their judgment is considered untrustworthy. But apparently, it’s perfectly fine for them to make decisions that affect not only this country but the entire world. How in the f**k did we get here?!? I guess our founding fathers didn’t think it was necessary to mention that in addition to not voting, convicted felons also shouldn’t be president.
