Photo Inspiration (July 26, 2024)

Some beautiful astrophotography by Toan Thai has me inspired.

So this is just a quick one for today! I recently decided to create a Substack publication where I will regularly write about photography and inspiring images from featured photographers along with some of my thoughts and work. I began this journey a few days ago and published The Photo Memoirs publication as well as my first newsletter article on it.

If you’re NOT a reader/writer on Substack you can still read the publication and article as it’s not under any type of paywall or anything like that.

What does that mean for Medium? Of course, I’m planning to maintain Medium at the same time. My approaches may be different, but I’m looking forward to continuing writing on Medium in addition to Substack.

Now, I did publish an article that details more thoughts about Toan Thai’s astrophotography that I discovered the other day, in the Substake article, but thought I’d share a few additional thoughts here as well.

For myself, I’ve never taken astrophotography seriously. You need a certain type of setup and you generally have to get out of a high light pollution area. I’ve always kind of lived in the city, in Seoul for the past 11 years and it’s horrific for light pollution! But now that I’m back in Canada I’ve been recently inspired to give it a shot.
